Failure Is For Your Highest Good

…and Will Move Your Success Forward, If You Allow It.

Failure Doesn’t Exist

Or does it? And Is It Necessary

Fear: False Evidence Appearing Real.

the power of failureYou gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do. ~Eleanor Roosevelt

Have you ever been held back about doing something because you were afraid of failure?  Most people have!  Let’s face it; no one likes to fail.  None of us like to feel like we’re ineffective, weak or lacking in any way, and that’s exactly how failure makes us feel.

There are many quotes about the purpose of fear and the benefits to lend to our lives. Of course, when we are in the midst of failure, it is a little difficult to tell yourself, “This failure is for the highest good and will move my success forward.”

The thing about fear is sometimes it disguises itself as feelings of anxiety or simply a passing thought that causes you to doubt. Often the notion of contemplation is subtle and unannounced. Fear doesn’t always come with a sign and blazing lights declaring it’s presence.

How many times have I procrastinated to get a project done or failed to meet a deadline because I over-worked the report? Too many times to admit. At the moment, my actions (or lack of) did not appear to be fear related, It just seemed like I just couldn’t get it together to get the job done. It took me some time of introspection to realize my procrastination and perfectionism is actually a symptom of fear.

I discovered something that absolutely amazed me about fear is the fact that failure doesn’t exist – until YOU say it does.  In the dictionary, failure has several definitions:

FEAR: 1)  a failing to do or perform  2)  a state of inability to perform a normal function adequately  3)  a fracturing or giving way under stress  4)  a lack of success.
Look carefully at those definitions and you’ll probably realize what I discovered. The definitions have one thing in common when it comes to goal achievement:

Failure is a PERCEPTION. Your perception.

[messagebox type=”tipbox”] If you believe you have failed, then you have.  If you believe you don’t have the ability to succeed, then you don’t.  If you believe you can’t handle the pressure of achieving your goals, you can’t.  If you believe you’re not successful, you aren’t.  Failure only exists in your own mind!  The moment you decide to give up or stop working toward your goals, failure is born. [/messagebox]

The longer your mind remains in that state…the deeper your feeling of failure travel.

But what if you don’t allow yourself to do that?  What if you continue working toward your goals, one step at a time for as long as it takes?  What if you remain positive and steadfast with great persistence until you achieve your goals? There’s no failure then, is there?

This insight should be very encouraging, if you’ve been working toward goals and not yet seeing the results you desire.  You are not a failure! You are simply on your way. You are in the midst of your journey!

Simply keep going and you cannot fail! You may experience set backs or a long time before your dreams are realized and that’s O.K.. You are successful the moment you decided to move forward and remain focused on getting what you want.
