How Entrepreneurs Avoid The Busy-work Trap

Are You Really THAT Busy?

Are You A Victim of Self-Induced Busy-Work?

busy professional on callahan coachingImagine this: you’ve been writing proposals for days, and weeks, trying to sign that big contract – and finally you get a callback. They’re excited about your services and they want to meet you tomorrow at noon!

You can barely sleep the night before, and when the time comes, you are burning with energy. You hop in the car )or on the bus) to get there. You rush in the building only to find the elevator is broken, but you don’t let that stop you. You rush up the stairs, and by the time you make it to the top, you’re completely out of breath. It’s only then, when you look at the sign hanging behind the receptionist that you realize your were in the wrong building the entire time!

Now you are both late and worn out! At the moment, if someone calls you, it will cause an outburst of, “Not now I am REALLY busy!” But are you really busy or are you just late? Are you busy or have you planned poorly? Are you busy or have you misjudged time?

By the way…the above is a totally a true set of circumstances… 😉

You may have been busy, but you didn’t DO anything. Is this true for you?

We live in a culture that emphasizes hard work over everything else. Rarely do we stop to ask whether we’re working hard on the right things, at the right time for the right reasons. As a coach, consultant, or solopreneur, it is increasingly important that you regulate your time and your work schedule. As you know, as an entrepreneur, you are responsible for everything. So, it’s really important that you focus your energy on Doing What Matters First.

If you feel like you’re climbing a whole building’s worth of stairs in the wrong building, chances are you’re not working very effectively. Your attention isn’t on THE MOST IMPORTANT things. You may be distracted. You may be tired. You may be overwhelmed. You may possibly may be pursuing the wrong goal(s). Do a quick review of your goals to see if you are still on target with your vision and your mission with Success Goals Essentials.
