How to Make New Year’s Resolutions Work for Your Business

Do New Year’s Resolutions Really Work?

New Year Resolutions to change your life

Do they really work?

Is it true that just about everyone makes a New Year’s Resolution? It seems like making New Year’s Resolutions is the norm to do each year, but do they really work? The answer to this would depend upon how serious you are when you make your New Year’s Resolution.

Do you view a New Year’s Resolution as something to just create because you know someone is going to ask you about it? Or are you one of those who make half-hearted resolutions without any real intention of trying to get them to work. Or you a part of the smaller number who take your resolutions extremely seriously? If so, then you are one of a few that has the best chances of succeeding with your resolutions.

This year before you start making a major list of resolutions why not really commit to changing just one thing in your life instead? It will be so much easier to tackle just one resolution at a time. In fact, it will be even easier if you see your New Year’s Resolution as a goal.

Would Setting a Goal Be Easier For You?

Many people view goals as a more serious event, than that of a New Year’s resolution which is often thought of as just something to say because you are supposed to at the end of the year. Unfortunately for many, by the end of January the novelty is worn off and they resume life as usual.

It is just a strange quirk of human nature that goals are taken more seriously. It is also true that you are more likely to tell your family and friends about your goals rather than your New Year’s Resolutions. What’s the difference if you share your goals or keep silent about your resolutions?

Vocalizing your goal solidifies it into your mind so that it becomes real. It is easier to put into a daily focus. The result is you are 10 times more likely to succeed when you have heard yourself declare your intentions!

Now is the time to sit down and decide which aspect of your life you want to truly change. Make it something that you really want with all your heart’s desire. What could you change in your life right now that would positively change it for the better? What would really make a difference in your life if you did it, got it or experienced it?

Think of something grand. Don’t be afraid to imagine. Don’t be shy. What do you really want in your life? What would make you feel outrageously good if you had it or could do it?

Make it real…Write it down!

Once you have decided on your goal, write it down. Your goals serve as a business plan once they hit paper. Your goal also becomes real when you share. Get support from your followers by posting your intentions on your Facebook page, your blog or even let your list subscribers know what you are planning for your business. Once you have taken the plunge to go this far, people are going to expect to see results, and you don’t want to disappoint them do you? What a great way to get “Accountability Partners” to help you stay focused and determined.

Now that you have made a commitment it is time to start working on your goal. The best way to do this is to create a plan of attack. This can be as simple as writing down the steps you need to follow to reach your goal. Or you may prefer to write detailed steps and set mini goals that you have to reach along the way.

I know it may be your personal preference to wing it. You don’t feel the need to write down your goals? I understand if your motivation is high you may not feel as though you need a step by step plan to follow, but you do.

Otherwise it may start to get pushed to the back of your mind and become a forgotten goal. In 2014 “The Year of Revenue Explosion” giving up on goals IS NOT AN OPTION. Yes, I declared 2014, The Year of Revenue Explosion.

So even if your friends and co-workers are busy writing up a huge list of New Year’s Resolutions, be firm and just choose one this year. Then stand back and watch and see how many of your friends actually follow through and who is still working on their resolutions come February.

It may help if you think of your resolution as not only a goal but also a lifestyle change or adjustment. It is more effective to work on essential ingredients for your success rather than an entire recipe at once. Getting laser focused on one goal that you are burning to achieve increases your chances for success.

When all of your thoughts, energy, decisions, actions and habits are in support of taking the necessary steps to getting what you want – you can’t lose!

Create a plan of action to help you stay on target. Visualize yourself achieving the goal. Celebrate small wins that are on the journey to your success. In the end you are going to be responsible for your own actions so make sure you set yourself for success for creating goals that are attainable.
