Maximize your skills and delegate the rest!

As a 21st century entrepreneur, it is hard to come to terms with expectations that we must be faster and more productive in order to become successful. The demand to track our businesses, maximize our time and optimize our digital presence can all become a bit overwhelming.

In my personal life, I tend to be a methodical thinker therefore one would assume that my business is driven by the systems I have in place. Best practices that seem logical and beneficial become the focal point of my business planning. Sounds good right? Not always.

I have to regularly step back and make sure the systems I have in place are working well for me and my business. I must periodically ask myself if they are lending positively toward my goals and if the expected outcomes are worth the effort to set up. May I share with you a quick example?

Over the past few years I have been studying Internet Marketing in order to increase my web presence.  I have learned some valuable information and implemented strategies that have been instrumental in my business success. This study has helped me increase my realm of clients, expand my reach and create a community of like-minded professionals and indeed my ideal clients. Although I went off the deep end in the Internet Marketing world!

I have used all types of plug-ins on my sites, purchased software and spent way too much time on avenues that do not lend to the success of my business. In my excitement about learning SEO, (Search Engine Optimization); PPC (Pay Per Click); and Google Analytics, I began offering these services for my clients. Needless to say, my core business suffered and I began to attract clients who were not ideal for me. I am not an Internet Marketer and that is not my expertise, so why offer it? Because my business was hijacked with an option and possibility that did not belong to me.

It took me a few months to get I do Internet Marketing but I am not an “Internet Marketer”. So, it is not necessary need to have affiliate links for the next software launch or the newest product to create unlimited lead capture pages. Yes, it took me some time to hone in on which tools and strategies I need for my business success.

Once I realized that I do not need to reach millions of people, I only need to reach my ideal clients. I don’t need to become JV partners or create alliances with just anyone with a large list, especially if there list would not be excited to work with me! My focus must be steadfast on attracting opportunities with partners who have access to the potential buyers that I serve. There are specific people all over the world who will be excited about working with me, my intention is to connect with them.

The lesson: I have some useful knowledge and gained a great deal of experience about Internet Marketing. I have mastered discerning which strategies are best suited for my business. I am not looking to work with the masses, only those clients who need my skills, talents and special gifts to move their dreams to business reality.  Clients who are looking for someone to manage their Google™ ranking or teach them how to buy Facebook™ ads are not ideal for me. Those clients belong to someone else. So rather than try to sell them a service that I could provide, I will refer them to a professional who specializes in meeting their needs.

Invest a few moments to take a look at a few simple things that you can do to make your business better. Here are a few strategies that I use in my business to maximize my most precious resources – time and money. Begin by cancelling subscriptions & services that do not serving you well.
